Meditation or Mindfulness is a practice that translates far beyond the typical woo-woo nature it's associated with. It's a meta-skill -- a skill that is working overtime, constantly. In this episode, I discuss how it may, at least for me, help with eating healthy -- more specifically, getting back on track when you've gone 'off the rails.'
Sam Harris, Headspace and Tara Brach have had a major influence on me. Guided Meditations are an actual game-changer in life. I cannot stress the importance of mediation in todays push-notification-driven world.
Mindfulness can be the driving force for a happy life. Understanding this concept is fundamental to creating equilibrium to your days.
Meditation has changed the game for me. I have given a rather average comparison between Headspace and Waking Up. Both are great guided meditation apps, but I may have found my new favourite.
After Dan Harris, the host of Good Morning America, had a complete meltdown on air, he searched for a solution to the voices converging in his head that ultimately lead to his mental stutters. He wrote a book called 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works— although the title does sound a tad misleading, it couldn’t be more true. Hearing about his book lead me to Headspace which ultimately got me into meditation.
