Weekly Brew #13: Amanda Palmer and Living in the Desert for a Week

Podcast Episode I’m Enjoying

Amanda Palmer and Tim Ferriss on Creativity, Pain and Art

For some, this may be the most important podcast episode you may listen to. Filled with raw honesty and emotion — it would be rude not to sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy this in video format, as I did.

Event I’m Looking Forward To

AfrikaBurn

Seven days in the desert with minimal food and water? Wouldn’t have it any other fucking way.

AfrikaBurn, for those of you that don’t live in South Africa or reside under a stone platform, is…I’m not actually too sure TBH? When signing up for a ticket, they make you answer a bunch of questions. The organisers clearly state — more than once — it is NOT a music festival.

Which I get. It’s essentially Africa’s Burning Man. Art, music, funny costumes, mutant vehicles — this event (which isn’t a music festival) takes place in a nature reserve in the Karoo. The Karoo is a desert region in South Africa that is more baron than Spurs’ trophy cabinet.

We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more in imagination than in reality
