Two Types Of People

When faced with demanding situations, can you keep your heart as light as a feather. Can you laugh your way through challenges and maintain an attitude freer than fear. When confronted with upsets and the poisonous projections of others, can you remember that all is well. Do you know that you are a spiritual being, not subject to the whims and caprices of earthly tides.
— Alan Cohen

A young girl, wearing a bright pink top, with a huge smile, and a cheeky grin, exclaimed to the entire Health Clinic (and the little boy she was clearly trying to woo), “LOOK!, I have sores! All over my belly!!” as she lifted her top over her head.

She obviously had chicken pox or something a long those lines. But it made me realise that there really are two people in the world. Those that see every ‘setback’ or physical illness/ailment as grim and daunting — or those that, like this girl, laugh at the sight of pain, probably knowing it’s just a bump (albeit a very red, itchy one) in the road we call life.

As a writer, I’m an avid observer of human nature. It’s how I make sense of the world.

The reason I was at the clinic in the first place was to hand in a jug of urine. To be more precise: a 24 hour sample of my urine. It smelt ungodly.

I’ve been trying to figure out what has been slowly trying to kill me the last few months, and I think I may have found the culprit: Copper Toxicity.

Apparently it’s a common, often undiagnosed, heavy metal that resides in many people. What happens is, your bodies ability to get rid of copper overtime gets worse, until it reaches your organs like liver and brain. I’m not saying this is definitive, but the symptoms — which I’m well aware of the dangers/stupidity of diagnosing yourself on the internet — are near identical match.

The urine test was to confirm the amount of the copper being excreted.

Prior to that, and what led me to do the urine test in the first place, was getting a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis done. This is one of the most accurate forms of testing as it tells you what your body has been storing/utilising on a mineral level. The test even went as far as to tell me my food intolerances.

I shall not bore you with the details now, but I would like to learn more and hopefully share my experience. For now, it means very little alcohol, dark chocolate, nuts and seeds, and shellfish — all these foods contain excess copper. And I must be honest, since removing them, I’ve felt more human. Just being able to type coherently is a plus. Another plus can be blaming my grammatical errors on copper…

It’s easy to get caught up in your own problems. Yet, when you look around, everyone is facing similar problems. You’re not alone in your struggles.

So I want to leave you with the question: why worry? Why not smile and keep your heart as light and open as a feather? Remember: you are a spiritual being having a human experience.

Proost.
